Generate class file with lower-case file name [message #249449] Tue, 19 February 2008 20:40 Go to next message

When I use elcipse to build the project, the generated class files are
always lower-case file names. Where can I change the setting to generate
the right class file name (the name should be mixed with upper case and
lower case)

Thank you.

Does your system have an unusual default file encoding? (E.g., maybe you
are running with Chinese character set by default?) That's the only thing I
can think of offhand that could potentially cause that problem. It is
certainly not a normal situation.

Exactly how are you verifying that the generated .class files have lowercase
names? Is it at all possible that the problem is in the observation rather
than the file itself? (I ask because I've been bit this way when viewing
files with WinZip.)

Does the problem happen if you create a new workspace and new project, or is
it specific to a particular workspace or project?

What version of Eclipse are you using, and what operating system are you
using?

Are there any errors in your error .log file?

No, my computer has no unusual default file encoding.
I check the .class file name from MS WIndows explorer and al of them are
lower case letters.
Yes, it's happen in my new/old project and workspace.
I am using Eclipse 3.2.1 and Windows XP professional.

The only error I found in .log is happen when I was trying to clean and
rebuild everything.
org.eclipse.core.internal.resources.Resource.delete(Resource .java:708)

Hsing-Fu,

Is this using just a local drive or do you have it shared or mounted
somehow? It's a very odd problem that must be specific to something
unusual about your machine's setup...

Also, in addition to Ed's good question:

Are you able to manually (or otherwise) create mixed-case files on that
drive? For instance, if you just create a new text file, can you save it on
that drive with a mixed-case name?

Thank you for your response.
The problem is solved now, it's caused by the ClearCase MVFS setting
changed.
Our ClearCase administrator changed the setting without inform me.
Thanks again

Ah. So Ed's guess that you were dealing with a virtual file system was
correct.
