We have an informal set of BIRT reports that are linked to a specific version of a database application. In the future we will be migrating to a newer version of the application and we would like to perform a risk assessment based on the known DDL/DML changes to the database. So we need to answer questions like "Which reports will be impacted by a column change in TableA?" or "The 'country' code list will be updated - which reports use this list?".

Is there any way to be able to perform such an analysis across the BIRT report library? I think I read somewhere that the reports are implemented in XML so is it possible to query these XML definitions in some way?

Please note that each report is a standalone report with no use of any library functionality availabel in BIRT. Also the database version (Oracle) is not being updated - just the application.

Many thanks for your thoughts and ideas.
Mike
