Hi
I am back on Eclipse after a while. I see two different versions, 2.x and
3.x. Could some body tell me where differences are listed between these two
versions.
Also any reason for 3.x version not replacing the 2.x version even though
it is out for more than a year?
Thanks

Way too many features to list. The best bet is to start with the 3.0 M1
release notes, and read all the way through the M9 release notes. Of most
importance is the fact that 3.0 is now built on the OSGi specification,
allowing dynamic load/unload/reload of plugins at runtime, as well as plugin
deactivation at runtime. There are tons of new features, such as the new
code formatter with tons more caapabilities, code folding, editor color
change capabilities, more CVS capabilities, better Ant integration, to name
a VERY small few. Go to the downloads, click on the M1, look at release
notes, usually 2 or 3 pages of them. Back up, click on M2, read those
release notes, and so forth. You'll be drooling by the end of M9. 3.0 will
put Eclipse on par with the big boys in most every way, and then some with
its dynamic engine. You wont be disappointed.

I mainly use idea, but am beginning to learn to eclipse. And yes, as far
as functionaly and usability, idea is incredible. But its plugin
architecture (really, just a set of exposed classes) is nowhere near
where eclipse is at, especially for 3.x.
