Hello,

We need a validation rule service, that can evaluate rules and change the view/control with validation error accordingly.

something similar to show/hide, enable/disable rule.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Ranjeeth

Hi,

could you give an example on the rule you want to evaluate and the
effect you expect?

Cheers

Jonas

Hello Jonas,

I can think of two simple scenario-

  1. I have a model which contains maternity leave which is not mandatory field, but when i visualize the model, i want to show validation error stating that the field is mandatory only in case if gender is female
  2. Another scenario would be that i have a task with due date and i would like to show a validation error if the due date is crossed.

Hi,

you can add custom validation rules directly to the model or to the
validators generated by EMF. They are not really depending on the UI and
will just be displayed there.

Best Regards

Jonas

Hello Jonas,

Indeed you are right validation should be part of model.

Reason i was asking for something on view is due to constant business change, so we could apply changes on the view, but i was wrong applying validation rule at view will not reflect in the model validation.

Thanks for your feedback.

Kind Regards,
Ranjeeth.
