i recently downloaded eclipse (eclipse-standard-kepler-SR2-win32-x86_64.zip). i am getting this problem

A Java Runtime Environment (JRE) or Java Development Kit (JDK) must be available in order to run Eclipse. No Java virtual machine was found after searching the following locations:
C:\Program Files\eclipse\jre\bin\javaw.exe
javaw.exe in your current PATH.

i tried to copy an existing javaw.exe from an oracle installation and it will still not work. i will get other errors.

please advise.

If there's an image in that .doc, please attach it directly. The download you have requires a 64-bit installation of Java. Is that what you have installed?

You need to install Java, not just copy an executable from somewhere else. This requirement is spelled out on the Eclipse Downloads page. Once you have installed Java (it's recommended to install the JDK, not just a JRE), check out the "announcement" post at the top of this forum titled "Trouble getting Eclipse to run? READ THIS FIRST."

Yes and no.

You need a JRE to run Eclipse, since it's written in Java.

However, for PHP development using Eclipse, go ask in the Eclipse PDT
forum, or try installing PDT through Help -> Install New Software (or
Eclipse Marketplace).
