Hello,

Is there anyway other than the Aptana plugin to create snippets?

Regards,

Hi Javes.

Yes, at least two different methods. First, check out the Scrapbook
(Help / Java Dev User Guide / Tasks / Using the scrapbook). This lets
you run code interactively and save scrapbook pages.

Second, there is a Snippets View. I haven't used this much, but it
appears to be designed for saving and pasting in frequently used code
snippets or possibly templates. I couldn't find any help topic on it. It
appears that, once you open the Snippets view, you can right-click and
select Customize to start creating snippets.

Does anyone know where the Snippets view is documented? HTH. Mark

Snippets View comes from the Web Tools project.

Thanks, David. It would appear, from a quick check, that in the Eclipse
IDE for Java Developers, you get the Snippets view but not the Help
content (which appears to be in the Web Application Development User
Guide). It would seem that the same can be said for the XML Editor (and
perhaps other features as well).

Do you think this is an oversight/bug or just the way this is supposed
to work? I would think, in an ideal world, that if you get the feature
you would also get the help content. So I guess I am asking if I should
check bugzilla and create a bug if none exists? Thanks. Mark

I would think this was a packaging bug, so one would need to open a bug
against the Eclipse Packaging Project, as I think that is where the
packaging is done for the various builds.
