I already have Eclipse 3.3 installed and running on Vista. I'm trying to
install version 3.4. No matter what I do, I get a "source path too long"
error while unzipping the zip file into a folder. I'm installing in the
root of the c: drive (c:\eclipse), so the patch is about as short as it
can get. I've tried both M2 and M3, but get the same error. Any ideas?

Windows zip is braindead. Are you using winzip?
