Hey gang,

I just noticed that Derby has graduated from the Apache Incubator with
the help of Sun and IBM. I was wondering if any other project was
considering or has a need for this kind of functionality. It is
something I've considered for the CDT index storage, for example.

Doug,

Derby is already being used in BIRT. I believe it ships with their examples.
I think it is also being used by DTP.

Last year I experimented with it to use it to store the plugin registry,
however under the runtime constraints it was not feasible because its
initialization time was not trivial.
What could be useful to get is the b-tree storage.
