Thanks -- but, after that, it wants to know "from where":
a) select "target platform" -> get a list of plug-ins, incl. the
"gef.source"; try to import that, get a silly project with four folders
each containing a zip. Not what I want/need.
b) try just leaving that checkbox unchecked, and navigate down into my
eclipse install: no sign of the "gef.source" (of course)
c) try doing a, *then* b, and navigate to the imported silly project --
no plug-in is found there.
Other ideas?

Hi Paul,
As u mentioned, the exaples are installed, I can assume the examples are
available in File -> New -> Example. Then Examples -> GEF.
You can try this simple option
Navigate to Window -> Show View -> Other..
Then PDE -> Plug-ins.
Plug-ins view will open after this.Find org.eclipse.gef.examples.flow
plug-in in the view and right-click. Then select Import -> As Source
Project
The example project will be imported and available in your workspace.
Thanks
Prasenjit
