FreeForm figures [message #234733] Tue, 29 May 2007 18:59 Go to next message

What is a freeform figure? In the GEF trouble shooting guide in a
section "Using FreeForm Figures"
( http://wiki.eclipse.org/index.php/GEF_Troubleshooting_Guide# Using_Freeform_Figures),
there is a cryptic remark that a FreeForm figure must use a freeform
viewport and Freeform layout.

I need to draw my own figures - 3D Shapes, gradient fills and shadows.
Although I've not seen any documentation or tutorial that discusses this
I'm guessing, I need free form figures.

The LogicDiagramEditPart from the logic example uses a freeform layout -
but I can't determine which of the many figures are the freeform ones.

Finally when implementing a freeform figure which paint method should I
override? paintFigure()? paintClientArea (seems unlikely)?

Thanks in advance

Hi Mark,

FreeForm figures have no bounds or size, like the grid and guides in the
examples.

I don't think this is what you are looking for when you are creating 3D
shapes.

Cheers...
Anthony
