Custom tool - howto? [message #228897] Thu, 11 January 2007 13:46

Hi,

One of the advantages of GEF is that I can define a custom tool I like. I
can build up a palette of Selection and Creation tools but I have a trouble
creating an own, custom tool. The duty of it would simply be e.g. when
clicked on a certain EditPart, a certain property should be changed on the
corresponding model. That should be simple.
But I cannot find a matching tutorial on this topic.

I played around ToolEntries and Tools (AbstractTool and TargetingTool)
extended them, added them to the palette, but not even the constructor of my
tool is called when it is selected in the toolbar.

If someone had a nice example on using custom tools please provide with
info.

thanks,

Andras
