Authentication [message #22022] |

I've noticed some weirdness with the authentication mechanism. I'm using
the svn+ssh protocol to connect as a committer to an eclipse project.
Over the last few weeks my IP address has been getting locked out because
of failed ssh authentication attempts. It appears that the subversive
client is trying to use my OS user account credentials as indicated by the
server logs.
Also of note, I have unchecked the save password setting for the
repository location and deleted the '*'s from the password field and the
user id from the user name field and the client can still successfully
authenticate. I've checked the password management preference page and
nothing is listed there. I am using the latest binaries (updated today).

Trip,
I discovered similar problems using SVNKit 1.1.7 to connect to my
subversion repository using svn+ssh. The connector continued to send
invalid passwords to my server even though I did not have save password
checked. If I would try to browse a repository, it would never prompt
me to enter a password. Instead, after a bit, it would display an error
that contained the following message:
Get repository folder children operation failed.
svn: authentication cancelled
I tracked the error to SVNKit 1.1.7, i.e., it was returning this error
to subversion. I have not pursued it further.
I have found the error occurs on both my Ubuntu linux laptop and a
Windows XP desktop.
To fix the problem, I installed the native JavaHL connector 1.4.4 on my
linux laptop. Its work great.
Good luck
