Hi,
I have read about GMF and it seems to be very interesting.
I'm having difficulties to get anything to work though, trying the
tutorials and examples. The Taipan example, I think i follow precisely.
I download eclipse-modeling-ganymede-SR1-incubation-macosx-carbon and
unpack. ( use mac, osx)
I check the versions of GMF, Several packages exists with "Graphical
Modelling Framework", but seems like 20080916 and 20080716 are the dates.
Taipan example is checked out successfully, I check out all the taipan.*
modules.
In the Problems tab I have now 28 errors and 2276 warnings (errors are
concerning *runtime.lite.svg bundle). 20080916 gives the same, The
20080716 version gives no errors but 2161 warnings.
Launch it as an Eclipse Application, a new environment starts, with a long
list of warnings and errors, errors such as "Unhandeled loop exception".
Adding a Taipan diagram works.
Next step to create an application is more cryptic, maybe it is clear if
one is more familiar to eclipse - "Create a new launch configuration to
run the TaiPanApplication and select just the Taipan *.rcp plug-in and its
dependencies on the Plug-ins tab to run Taipan as a standalone RCP diagram
editor.".
I assume this is something under the run dialog, maybe Java Application?
How to add the dependencies?
I have tried running through the other tutorials, but get stuck. I have a
feeling my installation might not be correct, but tried it on a windows
machine as well and get stuck as well.
Is there any preinstalled virtual machine with eclipse and GMF that is
verified to work with a set of examples?
Any suggestion how to proceed - I read about GMF and think it is really
the right tool for my project, but doesnt seem to be able to overcome even
the first steps in the tutorials after a weekend of trials?
Many many thanks for any inputs
