Hi,
I just reinstalled Eclipse from the Ubuntu repository, because I wanted a
clean install, but now I can't start Eclipse any longer.
It comes up with an error message which points me to a log file.
The log file contains this:
http://nopaste.info/068d321cae.html
I hope somebody knows, what this means :(
regards jannes

The log says that it is using the GCJ JVM. You need to specify Eclipse
to use the Sun JVM instead.
Hope this helps,
Eric

Thanks for your reply, but changing the jvm didn't change much.
I still get the same error log (as far as I can see).
Here is the new logfile: http://nopaste.info/1694748fee.html
It still complains about missing NLS messages (what is this?) and
some other errors, but in line 3 and 4 you can see that the sun java 1.6 is
used.
Regards, Jannes

To reinstall, you need to either completely delete the old installation
first, or install to a different location. Could that be the issue?

You indicate that you are installing Eclipse from the Ubuntu repository.
This method of installing is not supported by Eclipse. My guess is
that who ever created the Eclipse package for Ubuntu didn't pick up the
appropriate language files, or you need to install additional packages
to get the language files. You might want to try contacting the
maintainer of the Ubuntu Eclipse package. Of simply installing Eclipse
by downloading directly from the Eclipse site.

Thank you for your answer. I found out, that this Bug has already been
reported to the Ubuntu Bugtracker.
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/eclipse/+bug/10958 3
I left a comment there. So if anyone else here is experiencing the same
problem, please also post your log output there, maybe it helps.
After installing Eclipse from the official homepage, it works fine
here. Thank you!
