Fail to install Database Development packages by Callisto Project [message #207457] Wed, 25 April 2007 12:58 Go to next message

Hi,

I fail to install the Database Development modules from the Callisto
project because of a missing feature called org.eclipse.emf.ecore.sdo.

Here's exactly what I want to do and how it fails:

- I go to Help -> Software Updates -> Find and Install... and choose
'Search for new features to install'.
- I check 'Callisto Discovery Site' from the list of Sites to include in
search and start the search.
- In the following windows I check 'Database Development' and there is
an error message coming up stating 'Data Tools Platform Model Base
(0.9.1.200609201) requires feature "org.eclipse.emf.ecore.sdo (2.1.0)",
or later version.'

I already installed the EMF package through Eclipse's Software Updates
facility because I assumed the missing feature would be part of that
package, but that didn't help. Then I tried to find the file
org.eclipse.emf.ecore.sdo.jar with Google to download it and put it to
~/.eclipse/org.eclipse.sdk.ide/updates/eclipse/plugins manually, but I
was not able to locate the file in the web.

I am running Eclipse 3.2.1 (the package delivered with Debian Etch).

If someone could help me to get this package installed or point me to
some basic documentation which would explain me how to this, I would be
very glad.

Regards,
Moritz

If I'm understanding you correctly, on the Updates dialog where the error
message pops up, there is a button on the right called "Select Required".
If you press that, it automatically includes all of the dependencies of
the selected features.

Also, there is a screencam called "Installing Eclipse Features from the
Callisto Discovery Site". You can see it at

http://www.eclipse.org/resources/?type=demo

D'oh. I feel pretty dumb right now: I just did not see that 'Select
Required' button! Thanks a lot for opening my eyes.
