Eclipse is finding old java [message #204659] Tue, 02 March 2004 13:41 Go to next message

Eclipse automatically finds another version of java on my computer that I
would like to leave on my computer but not to be my default JRE for
Eclipse. Even if I point it to my other JRE and check it under
Window->Preferences->Java->Installed JREs. If I go into Runtime
Workbench, Eclipse uses the correct version of java. Can anyone help me
to figure out how I can get eclipse to stop finding the wrong version of
java without deleting it off my system?

I have tried a few things like setting JAVA_HOME and putting the folder
in the PATH but it still finds the older one.

Hi Jeremiah,

I'm sure you'd have seen this page;
http://www.eclipse.org/documentation/html/plugins/org.eclips e.platform.doc.isv/doc/reference/misc/running_eclipse.htm

I followed the same document to specify the java VM to be used.

You can add the -vm argument to the eclipse command line.
c:\eclipse\eclipse -vm C:\j2sdk1.4.2\bin\javaw
