Mac OS X Tiger Slow Scrolling [message #202372] Tue, 03 May 2005 12:39 Go to next message

Has anyone else notices a real slowdown with Eclipse 3.0.2 and 3.1M6
running under OS X 10.4 and Java 1.4.2? I just upgraded and things
seemed to have slowed down a bit. For example, opening up a 1000 line
source file and manually scrolling by grabbing the scroll bar and
moving causes all sorts of delays and Eclipse to peg the CPU meter.

I am running on an 800Mhz TiBook with 1GB of RAM. I have an external
monitor attached with a resolution of 1600x1200 + the internal Display
of the Powerbook. Quartz 2D Extreme is not enabled and is not supported
any way.

Just wondering if anyone has seen/noticed anything like this.

And on a side note, how would I get Eclipse to launch under java 5.0?
is it just a plist entry?

thanks
Mike Jackson

I hope there is an explaination soon - I may have to revert back to
10.3.9. Or start vnc'ing it off one of the linux boxes here. Its sooooo
stinking slow.

The latest M7 release seems to help this out. Have not had a chance to
test it for a whole day of programming though.

Nope, didn't really help much. Looking at the bug page for more help.
