I have the iText-1.3.jar in the below folder.

/Apache%20Software%20Foundation/Tomcat%205.5/webapps/birt-vi ewer/WEB-INF/platform/plugins/com.lowagie.itext/lib

Did I miss something? Any help would be appreciated.

Barry,
What happens when you try the sample report?
ie
http://localhost:8080/birt-viewer/run?__report=test.rptdesig n&sample=my+parameter&__format=pdf

BTW what version of BIRT are you using?

I found the problem... I didn't update the viewer on tomcat. Dev version
was 2.1.1 and the tomcat version was 2.1.0. It now works.
