Ideally, plugins will have clear installation and usage instructions on
their web sites. However, especially with third-party plugins, that is
not always the case. If so, you should report it as a bug against the
plugin.
Usually a plugin should publish an Update Site so you can use the Update
Manager to automatically install it and any prerequisites. Again, that
is not always the case.
Generally, installing a plugin manually (without using Update Manager)
is just a matter of extracting it into the plugins/ directory of your
Eclipse installation and re-starting Eclipse. However, you have to make
sure you have all the prerequisite plugins already. If you installed a
plugin and can't find it (for example in the list under Help > About >
Plugin Details) then it is likely you are missing some prereqs - look in
the <workspace>/.metadata/.log file for details.
For questions about UML2 there is a specific newsgroup,
eclipse.tools.uml2 - try asking there. I'm pretty sure that UML2 plugin
is underlying infrastructure only (little or no UI), you'll need UML2
Tools to actually use it. But ask on the other newsgroup to be sure.
Hope this helps,
Eric
