You've also got the option of nntp.

FYI, these forums are an installation of FUDforum (http://sourceforge.net/projects/fudforum/). Anything that doesn't work as expected or is just plain broken is not usually due to something that anyone at the Eclipse Foundation or members of the Eclipse community did wrong. Having said that, the webmasters do a pretty good job at maintaining this installation and even working on fixes/patches/enhancements to FUDforum.
Plenty of Eclipse developers use Macs so it's very likely that some of them use Safari; I've not seen any specific bugs reported about the forums in Safari so far, but there are occasionally general login issues reported. My point: the forums are not generally known to fail in Safari, which is why there is no "warning" or announcement about it.
