How can I download source code for the Platform into Eclipse?

You can get the source code of all the plugins in eclipse....

Window-->ShowView --->others--->pde---->plugins--->plugins

A plugin view will appear...

right click on any item in the treeviewer of the plugins view...

then import as source project option....
should be selected..

now u can use the entire code of the plugin ...
