Hi,
Is there any experience with DTP with PostgreSQL?
I tried to make connection using a generic JDBC driver which partially
succeeded. It showed some of the tablespaces , some of the tables but
never all of them. Clicking on things is resulted in CPU usage of 100%
and exceptions.
I really would like using a database development tool integrated in
Eclipse so any advise on how to get DTP working with PostgreSQL would be
appreciated.
TIA
Joost
Cheers,
Joost

The vendor doc for PostgreSQL might not have the complete data type
support on the version of PostgreSQL that you are connecting to. If this
is the case, you can contribute to
org.eclipse.datatools.connectivity.dbdefinition.genericJDBC_ 0.9.0.200605101\runtime\vendors\Generic
JDBC_1.0\Generic JDBC_1.0.xmi.
There is a widely discussed design issue, that "Generic JDBC database" is
used to connect to a database with minimum effort, however, in order to
support all data type for a specific database, this would call for a
specialized vendor, see following tutorial for details:
http://www.eclipse.org/datatools/project_modelbase/modelbase _doc/DTP%20Modelbase%20White%20paper.htm
Hope this help.
