How to install/use DTP [message #18682] Sat, 01 July 2006 08:15 Go to next message

Hi,
I have just downloaded Eclipse 3.2 and run the site update to add DTP,
EMF, GEF etc.
Now there are very many org.eclipse.datatools... plug-ins if I look in
Help>About Eclipse SDK>Plugins Details.

I assumed that I could use DTP like other Eclipse tools, so I tried to add
a dependency in MANIFEST.MF of a plugin project, but nothing related to
datatools appears in the list.

How am I supposed to access the data tools plug-ins?

Thanks
Roger

It looks like my whole 3.2 update was corrupt. Other projects don't work
either.
I am going to download the Jars instead and reinstall from these.
Regards
Roger

Hi Roger,

The Getting Started Guide for DTP should help here:

John,

I know it's been a while, but this is a constant frustration for people. The page you point to:

begins with the assumption that you've already installed DTP. There's no guidance on where to find DTP through "Install New Software" or the Eclipse Marketplace, nor does in provide the necessary details to install the downloaded package so Eclipse can connect to it.

Steve, if you go to Help > Install new software and choose Work with: Luna you should see it under Database Development. (DataTools Platform)
