When does refreshVisuals take effect? [message #194104]

I was wondering when refresh visuals takes effect. When I resize my figure
A I'd like to have figures B, C, and D replace themselves on the newly
refreshed figure A. When I call refreshVisuals for A and then immediately
call my method for rearranging figures B, C, and D it seems that the old
values of A are still around. How do I force A to take on the new values
before rearranging B, C, D?
