I have the option checked to show line numbers under Text Editors in
Preferences, however, the line numbers aren't displaying. Anyone else
having this problem? Is there a fix?

Running Eclipse Version: 3.1.0, Build id: 200412162000 on Windows 2000.

I dunno, I'm new to Eclipse. I guess it's the default editor. Are there
more?
Thanks.

What type of file are you opening? Java source code? Ant buildfile, text
file etc
In Eclipse, editors are opened based on file content and/or file extension
as set in the Window>Preferences>General>File Assocations

I am not trying to be difficult :-) but in M4 the preferences were in a
state of flux (the specific editor settings were being replaced by general
editor settings for things like displaying line numbers). So we might have
introduced a bug (scanning the Eclipse bugzilla I could not find any current
report).

Knowing exactly what you are trying to open in an editor, I can reproduce
your problem (or not).

Thanks

Thanks for the comeback, Darins. Ok, I was opening .cfm (ColdFusion)
templates before. I just tried opening plain ascii text (.txt), .asp, and
htm files. Of those, the .txt and .asp files DO show line numbers, the
cfm and .htm DO NOT show line numbers.

Thanks again!

Darin,

Has there been any resolution on how to fix this yet? Thanks.

My apologies...let this one slip.

If I remember you were opening files that I did not recognize the extensions
of.
(Can you remind me what the exensions where?)
Do the editors that these are opened within support line numbers?

Per my previous post (
http://www.eclipse.org/newsportal/article.php?id=234&gro up=eclipse.newcomer
), I was opening .cfm (ColdFusion) templates. I also tried opening plain
ascii text (.txt), .asp, and htm files. Of those, the .txt and .asp files

I suppose they do, I was using the default editor in Eclipse.
Thanks.
