I would like to apply a DirectedGraphLayout (or another one if there is
a better choice) to a selected number of figures as these figures are
being dropped onto a diagram. The rest of the figure should remain
unchanged. I looked into the way the LayoutManager is normally used, and
it seems to me that it will layout the whole diagram if I attach it to
the diagram edit part.

Could somebody kindly give me a hint how to approach this?
