WSDM and TPTP [message #17983] Tue, 17 May 2005 13:09 Go to next message

Hi,

We were considering using Common Base Event Model to log events in our
system.
We were also considering using the eclipse plug-ins for logging Common
Base Events.

With the approval of WSDM Event Format by OASIS, I am wondering ( a bit
confused) if we should re-think this approach. I have the following
questions.

1. Is there any plan to change the TPTP tools to use WSDM Event Format
instead of Common Base Events?
2. Is there going to be any plug-in support to log events using the WSDM
Event format?

Thanks,
Kamal

Hi Kamal,

As of yet, we have not received any requirements to move to the new Common
Base Event/WEF standard. This new specification is based on Common Base
Event v2.x which is quite different than our Common Base Event v1.0.1
implementation. Also, there is not a stable porting story for 1.0.1 to 2.x
migration. Since there is a large amount of work involved in implementing
the standard and migrating TPTP code to use the new implementation, the fact
that no group is requiring an implementation, as well as the
learning/culture cure, there are no plans as of yet to support this new
specification.
