Many thanks to Christian, Sven, Uli and anyone else who helped me understand Xtext and Xtend and tolerated my stupid questions without spoonfeeding responses. Xtext and Xtend are awesome and fulfill the exact requirement I had.

I'd been working on a Java application and had reached a point where I was just adding variations on a theme which were all about 80% common code. I was so sick of it that I stopped working on it for a few months. I'm really glad that I kept looking for a solution.
