Hi,
I am trying to do a new install of Eclipse on Solaris 10. I run it and
get the following:
42 krypton>eclipse
** (Eclipse:4147): WARNING **: No builtin or dynamically loaded modules
were found. Pango will not work correctly. This probably means
there was an error in the creation of:
'/opt/gnu/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You may be able to recreate this file by running pango-querymodules.

** ERROR **: file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape): assertion failed:

aborting...

I have previous installed the Motif version for Eclipse 3.1, and it worked
OK. There is no longer a Motif version. I do not have root access on this
system. It is a large system and the default window manager is CDE. I am
not familiar with GTK, and have never used it. I have not found much
information by Googling. However, I do not see this as a common problem
running Eclipse on Solaris, only some occurrences in 2005. I have read that
GTK is supposed to be installed with Solaris 10 by default.
It also doesn't run on a Solaris 9 machine with the same file system.
I am experienced with Eclipse but primarily on Windows.
I note that /opt/gnu/etc has pango.21jul05 but not pango. Is this the
problem (or part of it)?
I cannot fix this myself, unless there are environment settings. I need to
know what to tell a system admnistrator. Thanks,
-Ken
