Java not recognized by Eclipse [message #16898] Tue, 25 January 2005 20:42 Go to next message

I just installed Eclipse and am trying to set up a Java project. There is
no Java perspective in my "Customize Perspectives" view. Java is not
listed as a project type when creating a new project. Java syntax is not
checked... HELP!
I have Version: 3.0.1
Build id: 200409161125

I have also tried getting started with 3.1. For both version I have tried
using JDK 1.4.2 and 1.5.

Does anyone know how to get me going here? I have heard great things about
this tool and am anxious to get going.

Thanks!
Mike

You have downloaded the wrong Eclipse install...one that does not include
the Java IDE.
You need the full SDK...around 90MB

Go to
http://download.eclipse.org/downloads/drops/R-3.0.1-20040916 1125/index.php
and download the Eclipse SDK
