Eclipse 3.2.1 File types and CVS confusion [message #178388] Sun, 05 November 2006 03:23 Go to next message

I am deeply confused by the Eclipse file types and CVS, and hoping someone
can give me some guidance.

For some reason, all the newly added java files are binary by default.
Existing *.java files are also binary and when I go to Team->change
ASCII/Binary, and do a propose, it proposes to be binary! Supposedly this
can be changed by going to preferences->Team->file contents... but in there,
the *.java are declared as ASCII. So is this a bug?

Also, why can't I specify the ascii/binary type of a new file? This option
seems to be available only afer it has been committed into the CVS? Why is
that?

Please help... Thanks.

Very curious. I've never seen this sort of behaviour before. What
version of Eclipse are you using?
