Hi Jack,
it sounds like the interest in Eclipse 4 suddenly increased in the last months, and that's a very good sign. In fact, we are seeing more and more requests from companies about support in RAP for Eclipse 4, but as you already found out, it is out of scope for RAP 2.2, and there are still some issues to be solved outside of the RAP project.
But the plan for RAP 2.3 (2014/Luna Release) is not yet finalized... we discussed adding this topic to our list many times in the past weeks, and didn't come to a final decision yet, but there's a tendency visible in the direction of Eclipse 4 in our team. Of course, there are problems on the road. First, if we are not pushing things like [1] forward in Eclipse 4, probably no one else will do, and there's no guarantee that we are successful. Second, so far we haven't found a real driver (e.g. a customer, or a project) for this effort that justifies to invest a lot of time into it. And third, we are a small team of RAP committers, and we need to be very careful about what we add to our road map, and what we cannot add because it would be too much... more often than not that is a very hard decision.
Are you attending EclipseCon Europe next week? If yes, we could talk about it there. If no, I will update this forum thread as soon as there are any news.
Thanks,
Markus

Hi Markus,
at the end of your talk on the future of RAP at EclipseCon Europe 2013 you suggested to give you a feedback about who could be interested in this feature.
So we raise our hand: we are interested (+1)!
Thank you very much.
Cheers
Vincenzo
