Incorporate Tomcat Into Project? [message #176979] Fri, 27 October 2006 13:10 Go to next message

I recently have downloaded and have been working within Eclipse. I am a
web developer who uses Struts, WebWork, etc.
So basically I set up my projects in a J2EE type of setup. I would like to
be able to work within the IDE and run my pages (I hear of people doing
this all day) from the IDE? I do not understand how they do this, so I
could use some assistance here. I do have Tomcat 5.5 installed, but wasn't
sure if we use that one, or if there is one alread within Eclipse?

anyone assist with links, tutorials, etc. I would be grateful.

Sincerely
Scott

All right ... pretty nice. I am now creating simple webapps. Now I would
like to go to the next level, and have the IDE produce the xml for
hibernate when I am using Hibernate annotations within the java code. Can
Eclipse do this with a plugin?

I googled for Eclipse/Hibernate but got quite a range of junk. Does anyone
have a decent link, or example that shows the steps to write the java, add
annotations, then compile (have the Xdoclet write the .hbm files) then
compile and run?

Thanks for all your time

Hibernate.org has a set of "Hibernate Tools" that are Eclipse-based. You
should go there and check it out.
I have tried the tools on occasion, but found them to be "alpha-quality"
and not quite complete. YMMV, of course.

Hope this helps,
Eric
