Hi,
I'm a newcomer of elipse. I'm currently working on convert a prototype
bechmarking application (a daemon server process) from C++ to Java. I have
some questions regarding running eclipse in AIX platform.
1) Is eclipse-SDK-3.2.1-aix-motif.zip package compatable with AIX 5.3?
2) How do I install and setup the environments need to be set? current I
run IBM 32-bit v1.4 java platform.
3) Is there any simple way to convert the C++ code (namely *.cpp file)
into Java (name *.java files) via eclipse?
Any answers are appreciated.
Thanks
- Michelle

As a general rule, if you can run Java 1.4, you should be able to run
Eclipse. That said, the downloads page does tell us that some APARs are
required on some versions of AIX. So the best answer I have is "maybe"

Should be just download, unzip and run the Eclipse executable that was
in the archive. This is how it works on all the other platforms.
However, I have no experience on AIX, so hopefully somebody else with
either (a) confirm what I say, or (b) tell you the real answer.

In general, no. Depending on how the application is written, there might
be a chance, but I am not aware of any conversion tools that do general
conversion from C++ to Java.
