I am looking to download the 64 bit version of Eclipse, but I can't find
it anywhere on the website. I have found outside sites that discuss it,
so I am led to beleive that it exists. If it exists then this is the most
likely place to find it, and yet I cannot. Please help.

If I enter ‘eclipse download’ in Firefox on my Linux 64-bit machine, the
page I get it this one: http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/, which offers
me to download 3.2.1 for Linux x86_64...

Thank you for your reply.

When I go to http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ on my Windows x64 machine
it takes to the download page for the 32 bit Windows version of Eclipse.
If I go to "Other downloads for 3.2.1." there is no Windows x64 listed.
So I gather that there isn't one (yet).

I hope this is being worked on, but I couldn't find any mention of it on
the Eclipse site (e.g. a probable release date). I can try the 32bit
version, but I'm doubtful of its compatibility. We'll see.

All 64-bit machines I know of are able to emulate 32 bit. So there
should be no problem. You will have to take care that you are running a
32 bit java then, too. Which is good, since Sun’s 64 bit Java is said
to be not very stable.

Hello Hendrik,

Yes, that actually answers a question that I was sure to be the case (and
so wasn't going to bother asking): If I use 32bit Eclipse then I have to
use 32bit Java. This is the compatibility that I was worried about. Of
course, if what you heard about Java64 is true then I'm better-off anyway.

Thanks again,
Aaron

Well, the 64-bit ibm jdk is said to be much better. But don’t quote me
on it. I am using it for a while now, and find Eclipse to be slow
sometimes.
