How to parse a remote site with the StructuredModelEditor?
Is it possible to parse resources external to workspace?

The StructuredTextEditor should already be able to handle
IStorageEditorInputs properly (such as when opening a resource from
the CVS Repositories view). Or did you mean creating a model
without the editor?
