As you've seen, the first BIRT milestone has just been released and we
need to provide a bit more information about how to integrate. In
general, the BIRT Report Engine has APIs for discovering report
parameters, requesting to run a report, and obtaining the output. We'll
be adding detailed information on this as we move closer to the first
release.

The BIRT Report Object Model (ROM) specifies a scripted data source and
scripted data set. With these, you can easily build a report that uses
data from your Java application. However, these two elements are not
available in the 1.0M1 build, and the data spec that describes them has
not yet been released.
