icon decorators not always appearing [message #169986] Mon, 28 February 2005 22:58 Go to next message

When I have created new icons for the GEF for my company's data modelling
tool, in a couple cases for the large 32x32 size, the decorators do not
appear, or only appear ghosted when the object is selected in the GEF
editing window. Generally I draw icons in Illustrator and then import into
Photoshop for resizing and cleanup, then save them as transparent gifs
with Imageready.

I'm running on Windows XP, using Eclipse 2.1 with GEF-SDK-3.0.1

In the two cases where the decorator problem occurred, I thought it was a
result of importing from CMYK to RGB. I tried converting to RGB first,
then opening in Photoshop, I tried with and without transparency when
saving. I tried making sure the color space in Illustrator was RGB also,
then importing. The only way I could get it to work was to redraw the
icons exclusively in Photoshop before saving them out in Imageready, then
the decorators worked fine.

Anybody know why this might be happening, and why it happens
inconsistently? Thank you for your time.

What decorators are you talking about? Try and isolate the problem, by
loading the icon using just SWT (and Draw2d, if you don't see the problem
there). Also, check to see if this works with SWT 3.1. If it is an SWT
problem, it might have been fixed since. Provide a snippet and icon if you
find that the problem's in GEF (which is unlikely). Try the
SWT newsgroup otherwise.
