Jet Editor? [message #15939] Fri, 11 May 2007 21:49 Go to next message

Maybe I missed it somehow but I can't seem to find the Jet Editor. I
installed both Jet and JetEditor from the EMFT update site and Jet seemed to
work fine but opening templates only used the default text editor. As an
experiment I uninstalled both Jet and JetEditor and reinstalled just Jet
(both from the EMFT and from the M2T site (with uninstalls inbetween)).
Nothing seems to allow me to get to the editor. (Right clicking and
chosing open with shows text, default, inplace and system editors) I'm
running MyEclipse 5.5M2 (runs on Eclipse 3.2.2 with EMF 2.2)

Any ideas?
Thanks!
Gary

Hello Gary,

I'll made some assumptions here : my understanding is that you're using JET
files created by the new version of the JET technology. Unfortunately, the
JETEditor as it is in EMFT do not support the new syntax/paragidms and thus
will not be very helpful for editing the JET templates files that are using
the new JET2 technology.

For now the JETEditor that is in EMFT is useful only to edit the templates
that are provided in standard with EMF (or edit new templates that comforms
to the "old" JET technology still used in org.eclipse.emf.codegen), that's
why it's delivered as a separate plugin. By default, this editor is
associated with files with the following extension : javajet, xmljet,
propertiesjet. That probably explains why you don't see the option to open
the new JET files (whose extension is simply "jet") with the current JET
Editor.

I perfectly realize all this sounds a bit confused if not messy, but the
'happy' note here is I believe we're not far at all now with Paul to deliver
a JET component that'll fully integrates the new technology and the new
editor that supports it, as part of the new M2T project.

I hope this helps :)
Regards,
Joel.
