Hei,

I just upgraded eclipse-2.1.3 to eclipse-3.0.0. Now I cannot open Java
Perspective, and I cannot work with Java Project.

First, I tried these:
* j2sdk1.4.2_04
* eclipse-3.0.0, Build id: 200406251208 (eclipse-platform-3.0-linux-gtk.zip)
* eclipse-JDT-3.0.zip

Java Perspective didn't work, so I tried these:
* j2sdk1.4.2_04
* eclipse-SDK-3.0-linux-gtk.zip
But it didn't help at all.

Operating system is Debian Sarge. Could someone help me with this?
What should I do to make it work?

Regards,
Tero

Do you get an error, or do you simply can't find the java perspective in
the list of perspectives?

If you can't find the perspective, make sure you download the Eclipse
SDK instead of the Eclipse runtime. The runtime doesn't include java
developer code.

If you get an error, please append the error/

I just simply can't find the java perspective. I downloaded
eclipse-SDK-3.0-linux-gtk.zip (85MB) and unzipped it.

I started eclipse with command
#/opt/java/eclipse/eclipse -data ~/tmp
and I didn't find any errors from the log files in .metadata directory. Btw,
eclipse didn't create .log file.

When I start a new project, I have only two choices: CVS - Checkout Project
from CVS, and Simple - Project. So I cannot even start Java Project.

In your Eclipse plugins and features directories, do you have any
org.eclipse.jdt* directories?
