WTP for x86-64? [message #166115] Fri, 07 April 2006 10:20 Go to next message

Hi,

I downloaded the wtp linux package and tried to start Eclipse, but as a
result I got the following error (in the log-file):

wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

As far as I understand it, this error results from my x86-64-achitecture.
Is there a change to get it running somehow? Is there a x86-64-build
planned, or can someone give me a hint where I can find some kind of
tutorial that will help me to compile the wtp by myself?

Thanks
Johannes

Are you sure you download this
eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-linux-gtk-x86_64.tar.gz
and not that
eclipse-SDK-3.1.2-linux-gtk.tar.gz
?

if you got the good one,and the problem is still there,
try to bypass the executable like this :

java -jar startup.jar

I downloaded the wtp-eclipse. And I didn't find a x86-64 version of that
one. I will try if the one you mentioned will work.

Thanks

Thanks, that worked fine on my system.

The problem is, that I need the WebTools-Version, as I need the
J2EE-perspective. And I need to run projects on a Tomcat-server.

Is there a x86-64 WebTool-version, or can I "update" my running Eclipse
to get the features of the WebTool-version?

Thanks,
Johannes

Yes, you can use the update center to install webtools on eclipse x86_64

http://download.eclipse.org/webtools/updates/

I tried that and installed the webtools, but eclipse isn't working right
anymore. I can start it without problems, but whenever I try to change
the perspective eclipse isn't reacting anymore.

After changing the java SDK it works fine now! The one installed with
Fedora didn't work, but the SDK from Sun works.
