I am trying to build a chart where the number of rows and columns are
determined by the number of rows and columns in the data set. It seems
like tables and grids have variable amounts of rows but the number of
columns is fixed. Is there any way to get around this or do I need to
wait for the next release?

Nicole,

Dynamically adding columns is only possible using the Design Engine API.
Within the report design, using JavaScript this is not possible.
