Is there a taboo on adding java 5 generics in the WTP source? I'm guessing
there probably is to force 1.4 and lower but I thought I would ask.

Yes, taboo. After long discussions with many Eclipse projects, it was felt this (2006) was
still enough of a "transition year" that we didn't want to force users or adopters to have Java 5.
