Importing project resets Active configuration [message #1094716]

When you import a project, with active configuration set as 'Release', it gets reset to 'Debug' after import. I have found following bugs related to the same:
1. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=278771
2. https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=340219

Also as per the analysis, I have observed that if the '.cproject' file contains the configuration information in in order where 'Active Configuration' comes first, and then all other supported configurations, then this issue can be resolved.

Could any one please tell me how to update the '.cproject' file to fix this issue?
Also is there any other way to fix this issue?
