Just following up to a message from Jan 12
( http://dev.eclipse.org/newslists/news.eclipse.newcomer/msg06 643.html). I'm
having a similar problem - Eclipse has deleted an entire directory leaving
no trace of the files it contained.
The problem occurs when creating a new project (the previous thread was in
regards to naming a project). I'll create a new project, and I receive an
error that says something to the effect of "Problems encountered setting
project description," and the project is suddenly empty. When I navigate to
the project folder on my file system, the contents of the folder are gone.
They're not recycled, not in recent history or local cache somewhere;
"Restore from Local History..." does nothing. My files are just deleted.
I found another user with a similar (and unresolved) problem
( http://www.osflash.org/pipermail/osflash_osflash.org/2005-Ma y/000088.html).
I've found no solution. I even had Google desktop re-index my box to see if
they'd just been relocated, but no dice there, either.
I encountered this problem last week using Eclipse 3.1, I upgraded today to
Eclipse 3.2, same stuff. I've lost several hundred hours of work due to
this one, so if anyone has a solution/recovery method, I'd be extremely
appreciative.

I Scott,
What kind of project did you create? How did you create the project? Please
provide the exact steps you took before you got the error message. Is there
something in the log?
Benno
