Unable to start eclipse - cannot create jvm [message #162796] Sat, 29 July 2006 20:12 Go to next message

I've actually used eclipse quite a bit in the past but now I'm trying it
on a new system and am unable to get it to run. I keep getting the error:
"Could not create java Virtual Machine". I have tried it with and
without passing the vm paramater and I have verified that from the command
line I can execute java or javaw. When I do java -version I get the
expected version (1.5.0_06). I am trying to run version 3.1 of eclipse.
Clearly I'm missing something pretty fundamental and obvious here but I've
been banging my head against this for a number of hours and I'm not seeing
it.

Thanks in advance!
Sue

I have determined that it was a problem with the ini file. I extracted
and it worked.
Thanks,

Can you share more about the nature of the problem (so that we can
answer the question next time it comes up)?
