SSE, formatting, and XHTML [message #161481] Tue, 21 February 2006 23:44 Go to next message

Howdy,

I've just downloaded WTP and am trying to learn to use it. One of my
simplest projects involves coding up a static HTML/tables/based page into
XHTML/CSS-strict.

Unfortunately, while the built-in formatter indents table tags
wonderfully, switching them all into div tags is not handled as well. I
was hoping that everything inside a pair of div tags would be indented in
order to delineate its contents, but instead, the formatter brings them
back to the home line. Worse, my manual indentations are completely
overridden by the formatter. Nested divs are unbearable to sort out.

Is there any way to change this behavior? The Preferences menu has a
handful of formatting options, but they're pretty limited in scope.

I'm using WTP 1.5M4. Thanks!

No, sadly not. We (and many in community) would like to make improvements
in the formatting options.

I realize this isn't all that handy, but for some spots, you might be able to select
some limited element and format just that element. (And, dont' forget, selecting a
whole block from left column and pressing tab (or shift-tab) should shift right (or left).
