Incomplete Deployment on WTP 1.5 [message #160890] Wed, 15 February 2006 20:28

Hullo!

I'm using current milestone versions of WTP 1.5 and Eclipse (I forget
exactly which now) - really enjoying the new features they provide so
maximum kudos to those involved.

One part that appears almost disabled at the moment, presumably due to
the implementation being under work (hopefully!), is deploying more
complex web projects.

Specifically...

I can deploy web services, web apps etc no problem and it works great -
as long as they don't have any other dependencies... For example, web
project A depends on utility project B - when deployed, the jar (or even
any of the classes) from project B won't make it in to final
distribution (whether that's a WAR export or just a deploy for debug
purposes) but it will compile.

I can get around it to some extent by having dependent projects mount
their source files so they appear to be just extra parts rather than
separate projects, though this is hardly ideal and doesn't cope with
complex dependency tree's - i.e. the things project B depends on.

I fully appreciate it's a work in progress, so please don't take any of
this as a whine, i'm happy to have what there is :)

What are the plans for this? Have I actually missed something and this
*does* actually work? Or is it coming in a particular milestone that I
should look forward to? I've tried to look through the eclipse site,
but being quite new to Eclipse I'm still finding the Eclipse site a bit
of a swamp to wade through :)

Pointers appreciated.

Lastly, keep it up, I used to use Netbeans - never, ever, ever again :)

Matt.
