CVS in M9 [message #160810] Wed, 26 May 2004 03:09 Go to next message

I'm using CVS on windows server.

Up until M8 I used Team -> Synchronize with repository (with consider file
content in comparison turned on) and it worked fine.
In M8 build "Synchronize with repository" stopped working - it showed many
not-modified files as outgoing changed. If I perfomed commit on such file it
dissapeared from synchronize view but CVS version didn't increase (of
course - even Eclipse Java Structure Compare reported - No Structural
Differences).

So in M8 I'm using Compare with -> Latest from HEAD and it works as
expected: only modified files are shown.

In M9 nothing work: both Synchronize with repository and Compare with latest
from head list several files in outgoing mode that are not modified. If I
doubleclick on file, Java Structure Compare reports No Structural
Differences. If I commit the file, the CVS version does not increase but the
file is no longer listed as modified (outgoing changes).

I have "consider file content in comparison" turned on but it makes no
difference. Any ideas? Is it a bug or a feature? I 'migrated' from M8 to M9
by copying workspace directory (I have about 30 projects registered in 10
working sets.

After some exploring: the file that Eclipse reports as modified has actually
newer timestamp.
So it was 'modified' but nothing in file changed. After commiting this file
the timestamp (date modified) is reset to latest CVS commit.

Obvisously Consider file content in comparison doesn't work (anymore) in M9.

.... or you had some other tool interfering with the file or the time on
the CVS server changed. That are other likely explanations from my
experience. An update get's rid of those modification marks, too.
