Does the "Xtext Simple Arithmetics Example" work anymore? [message #1070386]

I have seen some mention in the forum that the Simple Arithmetics example had some problems and was removed from the release. I see it available for loading into my Eclipse, but my attempts to run it don't seem to connect with files having the "arithmetics" extension.

Does anyone know the status of that example?
